Puzzles are great brain exercises. They help children learn early math skills such as matching, sequencing, identifying shapes and colors, and understanding spatial relationships.
Puzzles shouldn't be hard work. A puzzle that is too difficult will frustrate and discourage a child but there are other reasons why children might not like puzzles.
They may not have the dexterity to fit a piece into the puzzle board or they are unable to sit down long enough to finish a puzzle. Sometimes children need someone to sit down with them and show them how to play with a puzzle. Fortunately, children's puzzles vary in difficulty and parents can match a puzzle to their child's level of ability.
