The inspiration for the jewelry design comes from the natural organic forms the artist has around her.
The artist specializes in designing jewelry that is dynamic, i.e. suggests movement, or the effect of movement through use of color, texture, reflection etc.
Paua is seashell found on a small select number of beaches in New Zealand. It is highly treasured as a seafood, and even more for the colorful shell.
The season for collecting paua is limited to only a few months of the year, and to a very small bag of them.
The shimmering color of the shell shows its beauty. The blend of colors it has gives it that warm glow. It's an unique piece of shell from the ocean. Each shell has a different color range, making each piece original.
