Give a tree, a gift of life!...
Trees Please brings you a living gift - a genuine family tree.

Native trees are part of the spirit of Aotearoa New Zealand. They give food, shelter and beauty. They symbolize life.

By giving the gift of a tree you will help give back to the earth what has been taken from it - trees and their potential to release life. Value the earth and its heritage... A tree is a gift which gives today and for all tomorrow to come.

Choose living baby trees that are between 25cm and 30cm in height. They can be kept in their wooden planters for a few months and then potted into progressively bigger pots and planted out into a garden or park. All materials used are recyclable, recycled, or renewable. Any wood used in packaging has come from plantation grown pine. Nothing has been spared in the care of the environment.

Native Trees...
Celebrate life with a tree gift for life.

Kauri Agathis australis One of Aotearoa’s most well known trees and while not the tallest of our native trees it is the largest and most majestic tree of our forest. Kauri grows naturally north of Hamilton but it can grow throughout lowland New Zealand (up to 600m). Given the right conditions kauri will grow rapidly in the first 10 – 15 years but thereafter growth is slow (reaching 9 – 12m at 30 – 40 years). Kauri prefer well drained soil with ample moisture.

Pohutukawa Metrosideros excelsa 'Vibrance' Commonly known as NZ’s Christmas Tree because of it’s spectacular bright scarlet blooms which flower from early summer. While it is naturally found in the northern part of the North Island, it can grow in coastal areas of the South Island including as far south as Dunedin. Frost tender while young. ‘Vibrance’ will grow to approximately 4m. Pohutukawa nectar is favored by apiarists as well as bellbirds and tui and some species of native gecko. Pohutukawa wood is very strong so was used in boat building.

Manuka Leptospermum scoparium - Tea Tree is suitable for growing throughout New Zealand. Shrub to small tree, it can grow up to 4m (depending on variety). Manuka wood is red colored, very hard and durable. Once used for tool handles and fencing, nowadays only used as firewood and for smoking fish.

Rewarewa Knightia excelsa. Known as New Zealand honey suckle. Rewarewa is naturally found throughout the North Island and in the Marlborough Sounds. In good conditions it will grow to 12m+. A hardy tree, although intolerant of wet conditions, it will grow in full sun to semi shade. It’s reddish brown bottlebrush like flowers form in late Spring / early Summer. Its nectar is a favorite for native birds and is great for honey.

Houpara Pseudopanax lessonii A native shrub growing to 3m in height Houpara naturally grows as far south as Poverty Bay in Coastal forest and scrub. It is a good species for coastal sites, but is a little tender to frost. It makes a useful specimen for planting in a planter on a terrace or balcony. A favorite food source for our native birds.

Culinary Trees...
A gift of beauty and bounty.

Olive Olea europaea varieties Olives prefer full all day sun and deep rich soil however they will grow in shallow sandy or rocky ground and therefore can be grown in planters, providing they are well fed and watered. Olives can live and fruit for generations. They grow to approximately 3m.

Lime Citrus 'Tahitian' or Bearss Lime. Grows well in sun-drenched, sheltered courtyards, warm garden beds, or in large planters provided they are well watered. Keep protected from cold winds. Smart green foliage covered with fragrant flowers followed by edible fruit. Five O'clock in the garden with a glass of gin is perfect accompaniment for this plant. Half hardy. Grows to 1.8m.

Lemon Citrus 'Lemon Meyer' One of the best cropping Lemons for NZ gardens, practically cropping year round. Happy growing in pots or in the garden, lemons scent the air with their blossoms.Green foliage covered with fragrant flowers followed by edible fruit. Customer Opinions

"Hi
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I was looking for something unique for my Grandparents' 50th Wedding anniversary when I came across your site through STA.
I have been browsing the STA site for neigh on a year when I finally found a site based in New Zealand. The idea of gifting a living miniature native tree for a life cycle event was perfect.
I didn't like the idea of a cut flower arrangement for such a special event.
Your "Products from NZ" was the perfect solution! Thank you! The arrival of my gift was greeted with surprise and elation, especially in its distinctive little box.
Thank you for a wonderful means of expressing ones' gifts with NZ products.
I hope the above is what you are looking for.
Thanks Raelene Sandler
