All-suite hotels are a relatively new accommodation type providing spacious living with kitchen and laundry facilities within a full serviced hotel environment. Motels are a form of self-contained and serviced accommodation unique to New Zealand providing both independence and privacy. There are more than 2000 motel-type establishments across the country to suit all tastes and budgets. Also known as motel apartments, motor lodges, motor inns or serviced apartments, they suit both independent and group travelers. Most have full self-catering facilities with well equipped kitchens and bathrooms, and are conveniently located for visitors traveling by car or using public transport. Car parking is usually provided right by your door or, in the case of apartment blocks, in the basement. Many motels are privately owned and operated enabling some personal service and attention. You will find motel units or apartments that accommodate up to six or even more persons. All motel units are serviced daily. The typical unit has one or two separate bedrooms, a separate bathroom and a dining/living area. Most have full kitchen facilities complete with utensils sufficient for you to prepare a meal yourself. All bedding and linen is provided as are telephone, radio and color TV. Studio units are bedrooms with private en-suite and tea/coffee making facilities and are ideal for one or two people. Some units may also have cooking facilities.
