Motels in New Zealand offer a special self-catering accommodation experience. Almost all motels in New Zealand offer kitchen facilities in your unit or room, bedding, toilet and bathroom facilities and a welcoming on- site owner and /or manager. Apartments are self-contained units, similar to motels but usually multi-story and often with separate bedrooms, a bit more space and additional in-unit facilities (eg laundry and full kitchen facilities). Motor lodges are similar to hotels. Rooms do not offer kitchen facilities but there is a restaurant and bar on site.
International symbol of access (ISA)

Tariff varies widely by location, facilities and time of year. All prices include GST but arc subject to change-please check at time of booking.
Motels
Also known as motel apartments, motor lodges, motor inns or serviced apartments - suit both independent and group travelers. Most have full self-catering facilities with well equipped kitchens and bathrooms. Car parking is usually provided right by your door.
Manv motels arc privately owned and operated providing personal service with local knowledge. The tariff is set on a single and double rate with minimal charges for extra adults, and less for children under 12 years.
Unless otherwise arranged, motels are generally available from 2pm onwards and the departure time is usually 10am. All motel units are serviced daily. During peak holiday periods it is wise to reserve ahead or follow a pre-booked fixed itinerary, but for complete freedom just travel and stay where you wish.
Apartments and self-contained units
The typical unit has one or two separate bedrooms, a separate bathroom and a dining/living area with telephone, radio and color TV Most have full kitchen facilities complete with utensils sufficient for you to prepare a meal. A mix of single, double, queen or king size beds is available to suit your group, and all bedding and linen is provided.
Studio units
These bedrooms with private en-suite and tea/coffee making facilities are ideal for one or two people. Some units may also have cooking facilities. All bedding and linen is provided as are telephone, radio and color TV.
Complementaries
On arrival in your motel unit you will find milk, tea, coffee and sugar all supplied for your immediate use. Morning newspapers are often supplied and continental breakfast is available on request (an extra cost generally applies).
Amenities
Motels are furnished with many of the amenities you find in your own home and may provide some of the following: Sky (satellite) TV, in house video, swimming pool, hot spa pool, sauna, games room, children's play area, guest laundry, room service breakfasts, and a restaurant or bar on the premises.
The office
The motel office can usually supply information on local activities and attractions including Jason's touring maps (Route Planners) and/or city guides.
