  "I'm delighted that I've been able to include the wonderful tale of 'Captain Beaky' as one of the feature tracks on this album. The combination of Jeremy Lloyd's lyrics and Jim Parker's bouncy music had countless children marching around the house whenever it was played.

  The 1947 recording of 'Sparky's Magic Piano' was perhaps one of the most requested of the Sparky Stories on Sunday mornings and like Sparky and the Talking Train' featured the Sonovox to achieve its special effects.

  The 'Little Red Engine', written by Diana Ross in 1945 was not recorded until 1951 and soon became a firm favourite with young listeners along with its sequel 'The Little Red Engine gets a Name'.

  When Jim Copp wrote 'The Noisy Eater' he intended to record it himself, but Capitol Records insisted on a big-name artist and the story was recorded by Jerry Lewis in 1953. In the same year William Boyd's 'Hopalong Cassidy and the Haunted Goldmine' was released and immediatly found popularity with the young people of the day.

  One of a series of stories intended to introduce children to classical music, is the story of 'The Trojan Horse'. It is set to the music of Prokofiev's 'The Love of Three Oranges'.

  Remembered for his role as The Wizard of Oz Frank Morgan recorded 'Gossamer Wump' in 1949. It is the story of a little boy who played the triangle.
