I first saw The Under Water Melon Man in a friend's living room and was struck by the funky surreal visual humor and the wicked sense of humor of the nonsense rhymes. It makes me feel as though I have stepped through the looking glass into a world where everything is not quite what it seems. It's a book that grows on you with more to discover on each reading. Is excellent for storytelling sessions in school and at the library, with lots of discussion as you can imagine. Add to the book the almost hypnotic musical tracks on the CD, and you have an all round imaginative event.
